Bathing in Lake Badersee?
Our amazing Lake Badersee is protected by the nature conservation regulation, therefore bathing in the lake is not allowed.
In addition, the lake is fed by underground springs that keep the temperature stable all year round. As a result, the Badersee never freezes in winter, but it also never gets warmer than 11 degrees centigrade in summer! Not only bathing is unpleasant, but it may even put your life in danger due to possible hypothermia.
Badersee should remain a paradise for everyone, the flora and fauna of the lake should stay protected, and our trout and water birds should enjoy the quiet of the lake at all times. For these reasons, private boat trips and fishing in the lake are not permitted. However, at the times when the lake has enough water our boat rental is open. With a rowing boat hotel guests and external visitors can visit the Mermaid of Badersee in her hideaway next to the stone island.
