Polina Peskovsky, Sales & Marketing
How long have you been at the Hotel am Badersee and how did you learn about the hotel?
Previously I worked in Munich and had to commute by train 4 hours a day - 1000 kilometers per week. That was not easy. One day I thought that a job here in Garmisch would be a better fit for me. I checked the market and discovered an online job posting from the Hotel am Badersee. My boyfriend who comes from this region said he could recommend the company in every respect. I applied, and since March 2018 I am responsible for online sales and marketing at the Hotel am Badersee, as well as our sister hotel ABG Conference Centre.
What did you do before you joined the Hotel am Badersee?
I was born in Moscow. I studied linguistics and public relations in Russia, in parallel I was a language teacher and also worked as a copywriter and translator. A short time after my graduation a friend of mine invited me to work as a marketing manager at a Russian IT systems integrator company. After that I worked for international IT companies for over 15 years - as a marketing manager, PR director, in sales, business development, partner channel management and in product management. It was an exciting time full of travel and challenges of any kind, however, very stressful as well, which led me to realize one day that I wanted to end my career. After I moved to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, it was an excellent opportunity to reduce stress at work - so to say, to 'downshift'.
What is your area of responsibility?
I'm primarily responsible for both hotel websites and external online portals, as well as for the social media. In fact, my responsibilities are very versatile, those include copywriting and storytelling in German and English language, building new webpages, regular checks and seasonal updates of all websites, online campaign management etc. I work to improve the search engine rankings of our webpages (SEO), produce statistics and analysis of our online performance, process images and videos and write press release materials. My favourite is the Badersee Blog, it's just a great addition to our hotel concept: the unique nature experience and all you can enjoy here in Grainau under the title 'A perfect day in Grainau' and much more.
What do you like about the hotel and about your job in general?
I fell in love with Lake Badersee at first sight already, when I first came here. It's a great pleasure to go a small round on the lake shore during the lunch break. The best about my job is that I can combine work with leisure and mountaineering - it's a great deal when you can go home at 5.30 pm instead of 8 pm. In fine weather I often go from Oberau to Grainau and back by bike, the way back is naturally more pleasant as you descend 150 m along the 20 kilometers' route. In summer you can go climbing, hiking or paddling on the Loisach after work. At the office I love the friendly, stress-free atmosphere and teamwork in our department. Here I can suggest new ideas and put them into practice, my boss advocates creativity. Also, in online marketing you can quickly see the results of your work, especially on our website of in social media - this lets you track your success on a regular basis. We run sales workshops at least once a year and go out to celebrate with our team.

MICE MANAGER (M/W/D) - Full Time
You are our hotel hero in event management. You plan, organise and successfully conduct meetings, seminars, conferences and events.
Over 50% of our hotel turnover is generated by this important department. Whether it's just 5 or 200 participants, the MICE team keeps track of everything going on in the conference area at all times, so it‘s the first point of contact for event planners. The Hotel am Badersee has received numerous awards as top conference hotel. This is an acknowledgement of our team’s excellent work, both MICE team as well as the entire hotel team.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You prepare detailed offers in response to enquiries from companies and event planners.
- Once the contract has been signed, you start planning the event and ensure that everything runs smoothly on site in cooperation with the other hotel departments and the customer.
- You act as an interface to the other hotel departments and provide them with relevant information on time.
- During the event, you and other team team members are the contact point for the event manager on site, so you provide support when needed.
- After the event, you are responsible for the follow-up, which includes invoicing and following up with the customer for customer satisfaction.
- As part of the Sales & Marketing team, you acquire new customers for the hotel.
- You are comfortable with gathering statistics and preparing presentations. You assist with sales and budget planning, forecast reports and other sales-related documentation.
- Sales numbers are your strength, and you help to increase turnover in the event sector.
- As a MICE expert, you are interested in the newest trends in the MICE industry and you contribute to the development of our MICE concept here at the Hotel am Badersee
YOUR 'PERSONAL SETTINGS':
- You are a great communicator and you convince the others with your approach. You find it easy to interact with people with different characters.
- You are reliable, able to make decisions as well as work under a certain amount of pressure.
- Your organisational talent helps other team members find relevant information quickly and easily.

- Previous experience in event management, be it at a conference hotel or event location / agency is a clear advantage. But we are happy to give you a chance to step into event management as a beginner or to choose a new way in your career as well.
- Communication is everything in event management, so you are expected to have a very good command of written and spoken German and English.
- If you have already worked with Fidelio Suite 8, it will be easy for you to get started, but otherwise it is sufficient to have good computer / Word / Excel / PowerPoint skills and to be able to familiarise yourself quickly with new computer software.

FRONT OFFICE TEAM MEMBER (M/F/D) - Full Time
You are our hotel hero at the reception. The Front Office is the heart of the hotel, it's the most important point of contact with the guest and the key source of information for other departments.
As a reception team member you have to be the one who enjoys establishing direct contact and consulting the guest, getting along with very different characters and personalities. In this position you would enjoy lots of positive feedback, if you do a good job that makes our guests happy with their stay.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You easily get along with all kinds of people - national and international, old and young, talky or silent, relaxed or demanding, as well as with business and leisure guests. You find an approach to each guest and consult them from A to Z.
- You start by confirming the guest's reservation and then enter it into the system, to ensure that every colleague of yours has access to the data.
- Guest satisfaction starts at check in, so you take care that check in becomes a great start of a great holiday or business stay for the guest. Similar to that, at check out you ensure that the guest feel themselves well cared for till the last moment of their stay, that they go home with a good feeling and would love to come again.
- In Front Office there's much to do, you manage all the tasks in a conscious and responsible manner.
- You are a team player that provides for a seamless procedure in the Front Office from beginning to end. It is extremely important that the reception runs smoothly.
- The information flow at the reception plays a very important role as well. Everyone should be equally informed, no matter if the colleagues work directly with you, after or before you. This would require excellent communication and organizer skills from you.
- Colleagues from other departments normally contact the reception to get informed or to inform the others. You take care that important information is distributed correctly and in a timely manner.

COOK (M/W/D) - Full Time
You are our hotel hero in the kitchen, so you are the one who pampers our guests with Bavarian and international delicacies in the renowned Werdenfels Restaurant, in the Talstation Evening Bar, or during group events in our Bavarian pub 'Seestüberl'.
No matter how many guests are in the house, 10 or 130, you take care that they get served high quality meals on time. You cook with love and every meal becomes an outstanding palate experience for our guests.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As part of our kitchen team, you cook various dishes for our buffet, à la carte menu and banquet, that meet the expectations of all guest categories, be it diet conscious individuals, refined gourmets, vegans, allergy sufferers, or demanding little guests.
- You provide for the 'quality, quantity & time' production approach - that is, you cook professionally and deliver in a timely manner the ordered dishes, which are correctly portioned and convince with their freshness and quality

SERVICE TEAM MEMBER - RESTAURANT / BAR (M/F/D) - Full Time
You are our hotel hero at the restaurant and in the bar. You meet the guest on a daily basis and take care of their physical well-being.
Guests would appraise your efforts if you provide great service and make them satisfied. And this appraisal will be shared by many, as long as the reviews are published in the Internet and our whole team will be happy for you.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AT THE RESTAURANT:
- At the restaurant you are the expert able to advise our guests regarding the food and drinks we offer. You know what the daily offers on the buffet are, and you also know our à-la-carte offers, the seasonal offers, as well as the drinks menue from A to Z.
- To let our guests enjoy our outstanding restaurant offer, ensure that the tables are covered properly and that the used dishes are carried away quickly.
- You guide the guest to their tables and take their orders, put those into the POS system, give orders to the kitchen team, and in the end you produce the bill and settle it with the guest.
- You are attentive enough to see at once that the guest needs something. You are there to help in no time.
- Cleanliness and hygiene, as well as compliance with our standards, are an absolute must for you.
- During parties and banquets, no matter if it is a small group or an event with more than 100 people, you keep an overview and take care of every guest's well-being together with your colleagues.

- The bar is your realm, you are responsible for the set up, as well as for the implementation of our hygiene standards.

SPA MANAGER ASSISTANT (M/F/D) - Part Time
You are our hotel hero in the Landhaus Spa, our in-house well-being oasis. Here you will take care of our spa guests and their everyday comfort in the saunas, in the relaxation lounge and on the spa terrace. This is a perfect job for those who prefer to have their time off during the day and to work in the evening, as the working hours in the spa are from 6 pm to 10 pm.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You are someone who is well-organized and loves keeping things tidy, so you ensure that the spa area remains clean at all times and a nice place to stay.
- To ensure that our guests always have enough to drink, you refill the drinks and make sure the glasses are clean.
- You make sure that clean towels are always there for the guests.
- You work two days a week. The regular working hours in the spa are from 18:00 to 22:00.

You take care of cleanliness, and you implement our hygiene standards passionately. Cleanliness is your real magic - you just hate the dust.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You clean the agreed areas professionally (guest rooms and guest bathrooms, as well as public areas: corridors and stairs), so that the hotel shines with cleanliness.
- You prepare the household items for professional cleaning in the floor office (filling up cleansing agents, guest articles and fresh linen; cleaning and checking the appliances).
- You watch out for breakdowns and provide info to your manager if anything needs to be repaired.
