The Badersee has attracted visitors in search of relaxation from near and far since the nineteenth century.

In 1871, the Grainau Charity Councillor Glonn bought the Badersee and decided to turn it into a holiday destination. He built an access road and a hut with a simple viewpoint. This was the foundation stone for a traditional hotel business.
At about the same time, the area was the destination of a royal visit, when the fairy tale King Ludwig II and the Queen Mother Marie of Bavaria visited the natural idyll of the region. In 1885, a seasonal post office and a mail coach connection to Garmisch-Partenkirchen was set up, and the connection is still in existence today.
The hotel was privately owned until 1974, when it was bought by the Bavarian Raiffeisen
Association in order to set up the Raiffeisen Training Centre for the Bavarian Cooperatives.
Today, the Hotel am Badersee is run by the Bavarian Raiffeisen Association e.V. as an academy, hotel and restaurant for the general public.
The pictures show extracts of the painting in the foyer of the Lake house.
